High Five for Friday

27 Apr

Oh, aren’t Fridays the best day of the week?! I wake up on Friday’s knowing I can concur the world because guess what? It’s Friday and the weekend is here! It’s been a lovely week mainly due to the fact that we are 3 weeks and counting to a little something called summer vacation:)

Here are my 5 highlights from the week!

1. Girls Night

I am spending tonight with my best friend, Lacey! Oh, it’s going to be absolutely amazing! Loving on a baby, eating yummy food, and watching movies does it get any better than this! I didn’t think so:) I’m also thinking we should watch some good ole classic movies like 1O Things I Hate About You.

2. Allergy Shots

Yeah, I sound like a real weirdo saying allergy shots have been a highlight of my week, but I was so stinking miserable that they are the best thing since sliced bread in my book right now.

3. Running a 5k

Myself and some of the girls on the soccer team are going to be running a 5k together Saturday. We ran it together last year and had a really great time, so I’m excited about running again this year.

4. Cookies!!

I decided to treat one of my classes this week by making some cookies for them. I made red velvet white chocolate chip cookies. These little babies are so yummy! I discovered this recipe at Christmas and had forgot just how amazing they are. You should definitely check it out here!

5. Sweet Hubby Made Dinner

This guy made me a pretty yummy dinner last night when I got home from soccer conditioning. I was absolutely pooped, and he was pretty sweet and made me a yummy dinner. He’s pretty good to have around:)

I hope everyone has an amazing Friday!! The weekend has arrived!!

High Five For Friday

13 Apr

It’s Friday, Friday, FRRIIDDAAAYY!  And as usual, I am pretty pumped:) I really like having this High Five for Friday post every week just because I have to take a minute and reflect on the high points of my week instead of the low points. Here are my 5 favorite things that happened this week!

1. Got to wear my new Easter dress!

Why is it a new outfit can make you oh so happy? This dress is just so bright and summery.

2. Found this great book on my Kindle!

I love reading a nice fluff book every now and then that is totally predictable. I also did a book review of it here, so you should check that out too!

3. Summer is just around the corner!

Okay, so this may not exactly count as a highlight, but I am officially counting down the days left of school! There are only 26, that’s right 26, school days until I am a free woman!! You should just go ahead and plan on seeing that flashed randomly in posts until those said 26 days are up, by the way:)

4. The Voice

I am basically obsessed with The Voice on NBC. If you haven’t been watching it, then you just have no idea what you’re missing out on! My favorite coach is definitely Adam Levine from Maroon 5, but I am afraid that Team Cee Lo has all the power house competitors this season. Currently, my favorite singer is Tony Luca on Adam’s team, but I also really liked James Massonne from Team Cee Lo.  On a side note, is anyone else starting to have a dislike for Christina after the past few episodes? The Voice comes on NBC Monday at 7c and Tuesday 8c.

5. Discovering World Foods

Isn’t it strange how you can drive by somewhere on a regular basis and then for whatever reason out of the blue decide to go try it out? Well, let me tell you I am so glad I did! So, World Foods is this cozy little restaurant in  Downtown Cookeville, TN that is super yummy! They serve sandwiches, pizza, deserts, and lots more great stuff. So far, their pepperoni pizza is my favorite and the tiramisu is to die for! Go here to check out their Facebook page and if you are in the Cookeville area I would definitely recommend it.

I hope you are having a fabulous Friday!

P.S. Happy Friday the 13th!!

High Five for Friday

6 Apr

This has been an amazing week! I only had to work 3 days and now am enjoying a long Easter weekend! Yay! The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here and I am loving every minute of it! Here are my 5 highlights from the week!

1. My youngest brother, Austin,  has come to stay with us for the weekend!

Austin is on the kid on the right. He stays pretty busy these days playing soccer, working, and getting ready to graduate from high school, so it’s rare he gets to make it up for a visit.

2. Soccer conditioning started back this week!

I coach girls soccer at the high school where I teach, and we’ve started conditioning. I love conditioning because it is a chance for me to get back in shape too. It’s also nice to just be able to be with the girls without focusing so much on preparing for games and strategy. We just run… a lot:)

3. I found this amazing Easter dress at Forever 21!

Thursday night on our way to pick up Austin we stopped at Opry Mills in Nashville. They have an ENORMOUS (I mean it’s probably the size of 3 normal stores!) Forever 21 store, and I scored this amazing dress fro Easter. The best part was it was only $19.80! You can’t beat that for a super cute dress! Go here to check it out.

4. I bought a Canon 2Ti DSLR!!!!

I have been wanting a DSLR camera for ages it seems like, and I finally bought one last night!! My Dad has let me borrow his since Christmas, and I have loved everything about it! I found this one here at Best Buy and made the plunge! We ended up getting a bundle package that came with a bag and extra lens for a pretty good price. I cannot wait to start using it!

5. Spending Easter with Family

My family is coming up for Easter Sunday, so I am pretty excited. This will be one of the few times I get to cook for people other than me and Logan, so I am looking forward to it! It also means I get to use all my fancy plates and dishes so woohoo!

I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!

High Five for Friday

30 Mar

Guys, I have been waiting for this day to get here because next week is a 3 day week!!! I am soooo ready for Easter break! Woo hoo! Yeah, the lack of snow days this winter are taking their tole on my… if you can’t tell;)

Here are my 5 highlights from this week.

1. Watching our high school boys soccer team win and remain undefeated for the season!

I finally was able to catch a soccer game last night. I coach the girl’s team and love watching a soccer game without having to be the coach. It’s SO AMAZING to be able to just watch the game and not dissect every little move. Our boys so far are off to a 5-0 start and are looking great this season!

2. Read a Great Book *Spoiler Alert*

I have been on a reading spree the past few weeks and ran across this amazing book about 2 sisters that survived Auschwitz. I have always had an interest WW2. It doesn’t matter what it has to do with WW2 because I’ll read it and enjoy it. This book was so amazing because the main character, Rena, was on the 1st train to Auschwitz and chronicles her journey through the concentration camp. Not only does she survive, but also saves her sister’s life. It was a very moving story but unlike most Holocaust books the end is fairly happy…at least as happy as it can be. It was also so captivating to read a book through the eyes such a strong courageous young woman. Definitely would recommend this book to anyone interested in this point in history.

3. Finished My 6th and FINAL Evaluation!!

So, if you are a teacher you know what a weight this is lifted off my shoulders. I feel like I can finally breathe easy now and not worry about anyone popping in to my class and pick apart my every little move. I understand the need for evaluations and absolutely agree we need to be evaluated, BUT, and this is a big  huge  GINORMOUS BUT, it is absolutely ridiculous for a group of people sitting in the state capitol, who have never taught a group of 35 students, tell me the best way to do my job and when I don’t meet these expectations then I am inadequate. I welcome ANY law maker to hop in my room any given day and try to teach and hit every expectation while dealing with all the loveliness that comes along with high schoolers. But, I digress… I’ll hop off the soap box.

4. Wearing Sundresses

I bought this dress a few weeks ago at NY & Co and love it! I usually stay away from long dresses, but this one is amazing! I paired it with a blue jean jacket and brown belt at the waist. Wearing sundresses is a sign that summer is just around the corner!

5. Get to spend time with this little man Last weekend we got to help celebrate Lincoln’s, Logan’s little brother, 1st birthday, and this weekend they are coming up for a short trip! He is basically the most adorable one year old in the world…but really do you see that face!? Little babies make the world a happier place:)

Enjoy your Friday!

High Five for Friday

23 Mar

Oh, it is so crazy how one week flies by and the next drags on FOREVER! I guess part of the reason this week has gone so slow is the weekend is going to be sooooo much fun! Here are the 5 things that have been/will be the highlight of my week!

1. The Hunger Games Movie

Katniss and Gale

Ever since I finished reading these amazing books 2+ years ago, I have been waiting for the movie to come out. And it’s finally here!! Yay! I can’t wait to see the world of Panem come alive on the big screen. If I weren’t a responsible adult that has to be at work bright and early, I would have already been to the midnight show. But, I just can’t pull an all nighter anymore. Does this mean I am getting old?

2. Lincoln’s 1st Birthday Party

Me, Logan, and Lincoln

It is so hard for me to believe that it has already been a year since we were at the hospital meeting little Lincoln for the first time. He is the sweetest and cutest little kid in the world! I can’t wait to eat some birthday cake with him Saturday:) Yay for birthdays!

3. USA vs. Canada Olympic Trials

Landon Donavan Game Winning World Cup Goal

I am so excited to see the US Mens Soccer Team play Canada Saturday in the Olympic Trials. If the Olympics are half as exciting as the last World Cup then I can’t wait for the summer!

4.Enjoying a Lemonberry Slush from Sonic

I have been enjoying the absolute best drink in the world this past week in celebration of the amazing warm weather, a lemonberry slush from Sonic. It is like summer in a drink! The tart lemons and sweet strawberries create the quintessential summer drink. You must go get one immediately otherwise you’re missing out!

5. New Top

I am in love with this new top I bought at Target. It is just so summery and comfy. It is a very flowy top but doesn’t make you look like you’re pregnant. Love it!

Happy Friday!

High Five for Friday

16 Mar

This week has flown by! I got to spend part of the week on Spring Break and only had 3 days of school, not too bad at all. I am so glad that it is warming up and looks like 70+ weather is here to stay! Here are my 5 highlights of the week!

1. Finished my 2nd Half Marathon

I think this was taken at mile 3, so I don’t look like I am about to collapse yet. I was able to take 10 minutes off my 1st half time and finished in 2:28. I hit a wall at about mile 10 and had to walk/run the rest of the way, but otherwise I was pleased with my time.

2. Going to the Zoo

We got to take Logan’s little brother, Lincoln, to the zoo, and we had a blast! This little guy couldn’t be much sweeter. He is about to turn 1 in a few days and seemed to enjoy getting out and seeing the animals. I will also say the Nashville Zoo has super affordable season pass rates. We got a 2 person season pass for only $55. We were able to get a $10 discount since I am a teacher, but it is absolutely worth it if you live close by and enjoy the zoo.

3. Pi Day!

Wednesday was Pi day, 3/14, which is the best day of the year in the math world. We ate oatmeal cream pies and read Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi in class that day. Everyone was pretty excited about the oatmeal cream pies anyway.

4. Jeans Day at Work!

Our school, unfortunately, doesn’t participate in casual Friday, so it is absolutely amazing to wear jeans. It just seems to make the day so much better:) I also really love these AE jeans.

5. My Sweet Little Jack

Do you see just how sweet this little man is?! He is so stinking cute! I can’t hardly stand it!

Happy Friday!!

High Five for Friday

9 Mar

Well, it is High Five for Friday time again and boy am I glad! I luckily had a 4 day week at school since it is our Spring Break! We only get a 4 day weekend but at this point I am happy for any day off I can get! Here are the 5 highlights from my week:

1. As mentioned above it is Spring Break!! Woo Hoo!

I wish we were going to Myrtle Beach, or any beach for that matter, but at least we will get to spend time with some family.

2. Fried Pickles from Zaxbys

Oh, these little babies are pretty amazing if you haven’t tried them yet.

3. New Fridge and Sink

I guess this is probably the most exciting thing about this week. We finally, and I mean finally 2 years later, got a new fridge. No more golden rod yellow fridge! And, my wonderful, handy little husband decided to go ahead and install a new sink!

4. Big Bang Theory

This week’s episode was absolutely hilarious! The guys were trying to have a “guy’s weekend,” but the girlfriends kept trying to interfere. This is still one of my favorite shows ever!

5. New Running Shirt

I decided since I was running a half marathon Saturday I would buy a nice new shirt to wear for the race. I ran across a long sleeve Under Armour dry wick on sale today, so I snatched it up. Pretty excited:)

I hope everyone is having a great Friday!

High Five for Friday!

24 Feb

I have been looking forward to this week’s High Five for Friday post! It has been a crazy, long week, and I am looking forward to a fun filled weekend! So, here are the highlights from the week and what I am looking forward to this weekend:)

1. Getting to play with a sweet little newborn.

Monday, I spent part of my day off holding this little man! Not a bad way to spend President’s Day:)

2. Running 8 miles!

I have a half marathon I am running in 2 weeks (I may have forgotten it was just 2 weeks away until today…) and haven’t been sticking to my training plan like I need to. So, sometimes fear is a pretty good motivator, or it works for me at least. Funny story to go with this too. When I was getting ready to leave, there was a group of these big muscled up guys drinking out of their gallon jug of water complaining they would die if they had to run a mile. I actually started laughing out loud when I overheard this conversation. I don’t guess carrying the gallon jugs of water around does a lot for your aerobic endurance:)

3. Downton Abbey Finale

Oh it was AMAZING!!! If you still haven’t watched this show do so please! It was so nice that they did tie up most of the loose ends and it ended the way I hoped it would. Now, I have to find something else to be obsessed with until next season (which isn’t until next year…sigh).

4. Half day of work on Friday!

Oh, I am so happy I only have to work until 11 tomorrow. This whole no snow business is wearing me out, and I don’t know if I’m going to make it to May 22nd! I am still holding out for a March blizzard.

…and drum roll please the most exciting part of my week is…

5. Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan Concert!!!!!!!!!!

Jason Aldean

Luke Bryan

I have been looking forward to this concert FOREVER! I can hardly contain all my excitement…if you can’t tell! This is basically my dream combo of artists. It’s going to be unbelievable! I’m sure there will be a update post in the near future:)

Happy Friday!! Make the most of your weekend, Monday we’ll be creeping around the corner before ya know it!

High Five for Friday

10 Feb

Well, I’ve had a productive and busy week and am looking forward to enjoying the weekend! Here are the 5 highlights from my week!

1. One for the Money

I finally got to go see this movie with my best friend this week, and we loved it! It was a great chick flick. It didn’t get great reviews, but how can you go wrong with Katherine Heigl and 2 hot guys? I mean come on.

2. Getting a Pedicure

After we went to see One for the Money, we treated ourselves to pedicures! YAY! It was basically amazing. If I could afford to get a pedicure every week, I would.

3. Wearing Jeans 3 Days to Work!

I mean I can’t even describe to you how excited I get when I can wear jeans to school. It was basketball homecoming this week, so if we participated in the dress up days we could wear jeans. If you have to dress up for work everyday, then getting to wear jeans is the next best thing to a snow day, which by the way we’ve only had 2 this year!!! Craziness! Maybe, I should start a petition that we should wear jeans in place of each snow day we haven’t used, which would be 11 for the record.

4. Giants Winning the Super Bowl

I was glad to see Eli Manning and the Giants win the Super Bowl. There is just something about Tom Brady that I just really don’t like. I also like the Manning Family as a whole so pretty happy with the outcome.

5. Discovering the show Downtown Abbey

I have only watched the first show on Netflix so far, but I really like it. It reminds me a lot of Pride and Prejudice, so of course I’m going to like it.  The best part is Professor Mc Gonagall plays the matriarch of the family.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! The weekend is here! Woo hoo!!

I am linking up over at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday.

High Five For Friday

3 Feb

Well, guys, I think we all need to take a moment and pat ourselves on the back for making it to yet another Friday! I have yet another fun filled weekend planned. I will be getting to play with the best little baby brother in-law in the world, run a 5k, and go see a Predator’s hockey game. So, I am mixing it up this week and talking about the 5 things I am looking forward to this weekend.

1. Baby Brother In-Laws are the Best!

Little Lincoln

I mean it doesn’t get a whole lot sweeter than this little guy. Do you see that face?! He is precious! I can’t wait to play with this little man and walk him up and down the hallway all night long:)

2. Fangtastic 5k

This will be the 3rd year I have ran in this 5k. It is a fun race that takes you through Downtown Nashville. I am setting a goal to run the race in under 28 minutes. This will be a challenge for me especially since this race seems to be all uphill.

3. Predators Hockey Game

So, I mean let’s be honest the best thing about running the 5k is you get to attend the hockey game that night. I know absolutely nothing about hockey, but it is probably one of my favorite sports to go watch. Here’s hoping I get to see some fights!

4.  The Super Bowl

I enjoy watching football and do plan on catching the Super Bowl Sunday. I will admit I didn’t want either of these teams to make it to the end, but what are ya gonna do. I suppose if I have to pick a team to cheer for I want Eli and the Giants to take the win.

5. Decorating for Valentine’s

I have had a super cute Valentine’s craft planned for weeks and have yet to get around to doing it. I am wanting to make Valentine’s garland to decorate around the house. Hopefully, I will finally get to mark that off my to do list on Sunday. Stay tuned for another Valentine’s DIY post.

I hope everyone is having a great Friday! The weekend is almost here!!
